A court injunction has put only a temporary halt to the indefinite strike by Lambeth College lecturers. Apart from this significant dispute, three other disputes have affected Southwark workplaces this week and in June, there is a real possibility of a million or so public sector trade unionists on strike over pay, pensions or cuts.

College teaching staff are planning for an all-out strike to save jobs, preserve working conditions and the provision of further education services in Brixton. A few hundred yards away, workers at the Ritzy Cinema are on strike this Friday for the London Living Wage. Lambeth College staff are fighting to save the Brixton site from being sold-off. They are also striking on Tuesday over cuts and contracts. This is just some of the action that needs your support during these coming weeks. Resentment among public sector workers over pay and privatisation is also building up. Last week, a quarter of a million teachers struck, in Southwark closing or partially closing more than 60 schools.
