Southwark Action Alert 2nd May 2014

A court injunction has put only a temporary halt to the indefinite strike by Lambeth College lecturers. Apart from this significant dispute, three other disputes have affected Southwark workplaces this week and in June, there is a real possibility of a million or so public sector trade unionists on strike over pay, pensions or cuts.

Please show your support for underground workers and fire-fighters who will be taking action over these next few days (details below).

Friday 2 May – Sunday 4 may

The fire-fighters’ union FBU will be on strike over pensions at the following times: Friday – 12noon-5pm; Saturday - 2pm-2am; Sunday - 10am-3pm. Please visit your local fire station picket line to offer support – moral or practical – or send a message of support to southwarksos@gmail.com to be forwarded to the fire-fighters at your local fire station. Saturday 3 May

Monday 5 May – Thursday 8 May

9pm on Monday and continuing. Strike and picket lines by RMT members against closure of ticket offices and job losses. Join the picket-line at Bakerloo Tube entrance at the Elephant & Castle, or go to other tube stations near where you live or work to offer support – moral or practical. 2pm. Buggy Army stunt called by Keep Our St Helier Hospital (KOSHH) campaign. Starting opposite the hospital.
