Campaigns

Save Southwark Youth Service. The original proposals for cuts to Youth and Play would have seen a reduction of £2.5m, or 73% of the entire budget. Following the energetic campaign of local youth, service staff and their supporters, the council has reduced this to a cut of 44%. The closure of youth centres is still likely. Over 100 full and part time jobs will be reduced to around 40. More info here and here. Send messages of support to 020 7525 3600 or e-mail: contact@southwarkunison.co.uk.
